Review - My Beauty Diary Hyaluronic Acid Mask

Hello gorgeous!

I have been a fan of sheet mask since years ago. It is practical and very easy to use. No spatula needed, heavy mask jar, and of course you don’t need to rinse them off afterwards. Despite the Korean sheet mask scandal that alerted beauty enthusiasts all over the world (google it for more info), I still buy and using them. Fortunately, the one that I’m going to review is not coming from Korea, but Taiwan. My Beauty Diary mask from Taiwan has been one of the best sheet masks amongst the other. No need to worry about the hygiene factor because they already confirmed that their entire sheet masks production is produced in a factory.

My skin is easily dehydrated, that’s why I chose the Hyaluronic Acid, so it could hydrate my skin and plump it up a bit. My Beauty Diary mask is known to be quite generous with its mask liquid. So what I usually do after I took out the mask of the sachet, I grab a ziplock and put the sachet with the leftover essence inside. Then, I put the ziplock inside the fridge for another usage within 2-3 days. You will need a sheet mask to soak in the leftover.

The mask is a little bit long on the forehead as you can see I folded it or else it’s going to cover my bangs. It smells fresh and soft, nothing too overpowering and made my nostrils itchy. You can instantly feel the moisturizing effect through the soothing scent.

I apply it after I cleanse and tone my face and leave the mask on for around 15 minutes. Feel free to relax and unwind your thoughts while putting on your mask because there’s nothing much you can do with the mask on your face anyway.

Here’s the comparison picture before and after the mask application. You can see that my skin is slightly plumped and looked more hydrated after the mask (pardon my sleepy eyes and eyebags). Please note that it will not give you any brightening effect or whatsoever since this is a hydrating mask. What I do usually afterwards is massaging my face with the rest of the essence and then add a brightening serum and anti aging moisturizer. In the morning my skin feels soft and not losing any hydration. Do you know that a well moisturized skin could also prevent acne? So, remember to hydrate your skin well.

I personally love this mask for its hydrating effect and never forget to bring it every time I travel. My bad habit when I’m travelling is I usually forget to drink enough water on the day, so my skin gets dehydrated. So, a hydrating mask at the end of a long tiring day is a must for me hehehe..

I heard that the Black Pearl series is also a hit. Have you ever tried any of My Beauty Diary mask before? Which one is your favorite? A hit or a miss according to you? Leave a comment below, ok!

See you on the next post!

Cheers,

Stef

Review - GlamGlow ThirstyMud Mask

Hello gorgeous!
How is your first week of 2016? Mine is a bit slow because it was still school holiday for my son. So, I was unable to do a lot of work because every time I touch my laptop, my son's radar catches it and he will start to cling on me hahaha

I'm glad that I could squeeze a little time to write about a review on GlamGlow ThirstyMud Mask today.
It's a sample review, the one that I got from Sociolla gift box, so it might not provide you with a comprehensive review since it's a one time trial only. But at least it can give you an insight on what you are going to experience when you use GlamGlow ThirstyMud Mask.

This mask claims to be able to hydrate, moisture, restore, replenish, and calm your skin.It sounds really interesting. I was glad that I got this sample because my skin is pretty dry lately and I would love some extra hydration to bring back the suppleness to my skin.

I never use GlamGlow before and only see some pictures of people apply it to their faces. And because they name all the mask with mud at the end, I was assuming that the mask would be mudlike consistency and color. But ThirstyMud doesn't. The texture is gel like and smells like a caramel pudding. The color is light caramel brown with some black specks in it. It smells so delicious I have to restrain myself from licking it hahahaha

I applied it using my fingers, smooth it out evenly on my face and neck area. One sachet is enough for one time thick application on my face. Please note that I have a small face, so if you consider that your face is wider or bigger, you might want to apply it thinly.

After the first few minutes,my face started to feel a tingling sensation like minty feel on my skin. I wonder if it is because of the ginger extract. Unlike other mask that will dry up as the time goes by up until 15-20 mins, GlamGlow ThirstyMud will not. It stayed gel-ish and just keep doing its job hydrating my skin. It is advised after the time is finished, you just wipe off the mask from your face and let the remains sit on your skin overnight. The next morning your will wake up with a not only hydrated skin, but also better texture and glow.

On the picture, you can see my before and after applying GlamGlow ThirstyMud. My skin looks fresher and plumped a little bit compared to the before pic. My skin feel hydrated but not too much, it did not make my face looks puffy. Due to the hype from a lot of people said about this mask, I was actually expecting more from it. But it's just it. I did not feel anything else. I did not feel that my skin is replenished nor restored or even reach that glow that they promised. So, somehow I felt kind of bummed that this mask did not deliver a significant result on my skin. Then, I thought, I would leave the mask overnight after I wiped it away and use it as a sleeping mask. Who knows, it will work its magic throughout the night and when I woke up, my skin will experiencing a better result from it. But when I woke up, my skin was not really enjoying a significant result either.

I still love SK-II Whitening Mask more for its instant brightening and glow that it gave me before. But then again, everybody has different skin and every skincare reacts differently, right? I supposed GlamGlow ThirstyMud works just okay for my skin. The tingling sensation was fun though hahaha

Will I buy the full size? I don't think so. Will I try the other GlamGlow Mask? I would love too! They still have other types of mask such as PowerMud, SuperMud, and YouthMud.
How's your experience with GlamGlow Mask? Please do share it with me. Which GlamGlow series that's your favorite?

Cheers,
Stef

Sociolla Box - My Shopping Experience

I love online shopping. The ease of shopping that can be done within the comfort of your home or even your bedroom. One day, I stumbled upon one online shopping website, specializing in beauty product, called Sociolla. Their beautiful font and attractive design caught my eyes at first. The design is girly yet fresh and modern. I browse their website and quite satisfied with the beauty brands that they carry because they have some of my favorite brands, such as SKII, Laneige, Lavie Lash, and Beauty Story.

How it works?
First, you need to register yourself and make an account at www.sociolla.com. The registration is very easy, you just need to fill some data, such as name, address, contact number, etc. Afterwards, you will be given an account and you can log in to start shopping at Sociolla.

You can start shopping by browsing through their website. If you already knew which brand you would like to purchase, you can click on the Shop by Brand option. If you still want to browse around, you can try clicking the Shop by Department option.

After you finish shopping, you can click on My Bag (on the top section of the web) to see the products you have chosen. You will be directed to My Shopping Bag section where you can input any voucher code you have and pick a free sample of your own choice. I love this feature! It reminds me a lot like when I shop at Sephora. They also still have free shipping service nationwide but for a limited time only.

You can see that when you purchase something, you will earn Beauty Points. For every 50.000 IDR purchase you will earn 1 point. When you review a product on Sociolla, you will also receive beauty points. These beauty points later can be redeemed on your next purchase as shopping voucher. 10 beauty points worth 25.000 IDR Sociolla shopping voucher. How great is that?!

Proceed from the shopping bag to the checkout section, you can choose your payment method. They offer various payment methods from COD to credit card payment. Input your preferred payment method and you are done!

The amazing part is, my Sociolla Box arrived on the next day. All pretty and pink, safe and sound at my doorstep. How many of you have experienced fast delivery but with poor packaging when you do online shopping? For me, a good packaging is a must for an online seller. Sociolla surprised me with their beautiful box. It’s like I got a present from someone. They also packed the items carefully; bubble wrapped them individually, to make sure that the items are safe. They also used shredded paper to fill the gap in the box so the items would stay in place. Needless to say, I am one extremely happy and satisfied customer which is the main reason why I wrote this shopping experience on my blog.

Below are my purchased products from Sociolla and will review them separately later in other post.
Thank you Sociolla for making my online shopping special and please keep up the good work. Can’t wait until my next Sociolla Box.

Cheers,
Stefi

Sariayu Masker Ketan Hitam

Last week, I helped my in laws with their shop. The shop is located on the side of an extremely busy main street, so the dust and air pollution is really bad. Not to mention the hot weather lately, I felt my skin acted out a bit with some spots of redness here and there. I love facial mask and I believe we all need to spare a little time from our busy day to do one facial mask session at least once a week to nourish our skin. Lucky, I saved Masker Ketan Hitam  for the last one to try because a facial mask with antioxidant is exactly what I need to rejuvenate my skin.

I still remember some old times when I was still living in my parent's house. We lived in a housing complex where you could find a lot of street food vendors going around the complex every day. On the weekends, my family usually will buy two kinds of food, Soto Ayam and Black Sticky Rice/Mung Bean Porridge. I am not a fan of soto, so usually I will choose the porridge. I would just eat the black sticky rice part and leave the mung bean for my mom or dad hahaha..
Anyone here like Black Sticky Rice porridge? Apparently Ketan Hitam or Black Sticky Rice can do as facial mask too.

The mask color is light grey and it goes darker when I mixed it with the rose water. It doesn’t have weird smell but one thing for sure, it doesn’t smell like the black sticky rice porridge hahaha..
The texture and the consistency are smoother than Beras Putih but not as smooth as Beras Merah. It has black speckles in it which I assumed is the ground black sticky rice.  It did not dry as quickly as Beras Merah, the picture below was taken after 5 minutes application because I have to do something first. You can see the mask was not dry yet and there were only small dry spots on my face.

It has the same cooling effect like Beras Merah and I’m starting to wonder if it’s actually the masks or the rose water that gives the cooling effect. The mask felt a bit balmy and hugged my face smoothly. I did not experience the tightness until the last minutes when the mask was getting really dry on my face.

Because it doesn’t dry quickly, I gave the mask 20 minutes before I cleaned them away. The mask claimed to be able to shrink pores but unfortunately it did not work on me. I did feel the mask moisturized my skin better than Beras Merah did. My skin felt plumped due to it and looked fresher.

So, which one is my favorite from those three masks?
I would say Masker Ketan Hitam is the winner because I like how the mask moistures my skin and it seemed to be able to calm my skin better than the other two. I am a bit disappointed with Beras Merah because in my opinion, it did not deliver what it claimed, which is to moisturize the skin.
Alrighty! This is the end of the trilogy review of Sariayu masks. It was a fun experience trying those masks. I don’t remember when the last time I used powder mask. Have you tried them now? Which one is your favorite?

Cheers,
Stef

Sariayu Masker Beras Merah

Hellooooo gorgeous!
How are you today? I hope you are having a good and productive day despite the currency issue that we experience lately. I cried inside because I have to resist the online shopping temptation (all those Pre Orders). But while waiting for the currency to get better, let’s dig in to the products of our local beauty brand. This is the part two of my Sariayu facial mask review. Today, I’m going to share my experience with Sariayu Masker Beras Merah or Red Rice Moisturizing Mask.

I was quite confused when I read the back of the package because it is said that it contains brown rice instead of red rice. Then, when I read the ingredients, it said it contains Oryza Glaberrima (I googled it and it said it is an African Rice). So now I’m actually still wondering what is the real ingredient from this mask is. But despite that, the rest of the ingredients looks legit for me especially honey that can help your skin in retaining moisture.

Anyway, back to the mask itself. The color of the powder is pink. I mixed it again with the Sariayu Sari Air Mawar Putih. After it’s mixed, it smelled a little bit like playdoh, but it was not too overwhelming when it sits on your face. This time, the mixture looked smoother and it felt smoother too when I applied it to my face. You can see on the picture, the application is less splotchy due to its smoother texture. Compared to Beras Putih, this mask dries faster, so you need to apply it rather quickly before it starts to dry. Honestly I felt like The Titan with a pink mask on my face :D

No tingling sensation too with this mask, the mask enveloped my face well and my skin felt soooo cool. I supposed this is a great mask to use after a long hot and humid day. I felt that while the mask is drying, it’s getting really tight on my face, could it be from the tightening effect that it’s promised? I waited for a good 15 minutes (or until the mask is completely dry on your face) and then I cracked the mask on my face by opening and pouting my mouth. You don’t need to do this actually, it’s just something that I like to do because I like to see it crackled on my face hahaha
I wiped it clean using a warm towel. Make sure you clean every bit of it. I rinse my face with cold water afterwards (no soap) and continued it with my usual skincare regime.

Result? The mask moisturized my skin just okay, less than I expected, but it did not make my skin dry. The skin looked plumped and radiates, which I did not get from Beras Putih mask.

For some people, these masks are a bit unpractical because we have to mix it first and the application is going to be too messy, etc etc. So, I would suggest using these masks when you have time in your hand. This is a kind of mask to put on the weekends or night time after you finish all of your work but still got time to relax over a mask and a lovely scented candle kind of mask.

On the positive side, due to its powder form, you don’t need to be afraid the mask going to go bad if you keep it under the heat or when you carry it around under high heat. You can mix them with plain water too if you don’t have any rose water.

One mask left to review now! Masker Ketan Hitam or Black Sticky Rice Mask. Stay tune on my blog to read the review of it. Thank you for reading, gorgeous! Have a fabulous day!

Cheers,
Stef
