Review - Swissdent Extreme Whitening Toothpaste

I know I have been MIA on the blog from the last 6 months or so. Well I hope that you guys still want to read my blog and this review though.

This time I am going to review a whitening toothpaste coming all the way from Switzerland, pretty far away, huh? The product is Swissdent Extreme Whitening Toothpaste. Want to know more about it? Let’s dig in!

Having a bright white teeth of course have been many people’s dream, including me. But being a coffee and tea lover (and wine occasionally), it’s hard to maintain a bright white smile. You guys know how bad those things can stain your teeth, right? I’ve been curious and wanting to try the teeth brightening procedure at the dentist for quite sometime. Unfortunately, the cost of the procedure is quite hefty, so I keep on going back and forth with the plan hahaha..

Then a friend came and introduce me to Swissdent Extreme Whitening Toothpaste. A whitening toothpaste that claimed to be able to brighten your teeth in only 7 days! A quite ambitious toothpaste if I might say hahaha..

First, I’m going to share with you what I know about Swissdent. Swissdent is an International company based in Zurich, Switzerland which founded by Dr. Vaclav Velkoborsky, a specialist in cosmetic dentistry. The company has been researching teeth whitening procedures since 2006, so I’m quite convinced that they know what they are doing with the teeth. 

Let’s start with the packaging. The box is dominated with red and white colors and kind of reminds me to Colgate Optic White packaging. You can see the ingredients list on the box and on the toothpaste packaging. 

If you are worried about how abrasive this toothpaste on your teeth because its extreme name, believe me that is not the case. Swissdent understands that most whitening toothpaste usually is quite abrasive and could scratch the enamel, damaging it and wearing it over the time. But Patented SWISSDENT-Formula, Micronized calcium peroxide < 0.1 % and fruit enzymes (Papain and Bromelain) remove plaque gently and acting as mild polishing agents. 

It also contains Coenzyme Q10 and Vitamin E to promote healthy gums. It’s SLS free and has a good amount of fluoride to protect your teeth from caries.

The texture is the same like other toothpaste but the color is not as white as the others. It smells minty but surprisingly it doesn’t produce a lot of foam when you brush your teeth. So for some people who are used to foamy toothpaste (like me), it’s going to feel a bit weird in a few first brushes. You will feel that it doesn’t clean your teeth enough or thinking how this product is going to be able to brighten my teeth when it seems that my teeth is not covered well by it. Those are just your mind though, the result will show you that this toothpaste is actually working brighten your teeth. 

Normally, people spends 1 to 1.5 minutes to brush their teeth. But the utmost rule when using this toothpaste is that you need to brush your teeth longer which is around 2 minutes or more. I get accustomed to brushing my teeth at a longer time previously because of my weirdly positioned molars that needs to be brushed meticulously to make sure that they are well cleaned. 2 minutes is not a problem for me. 

Now let’s go to the result. The picture below is the comparison of my teeth between day 1 to day 7 using Swissdent Extreme Whitening toothpaste. As you can see, my teeth looks brighter and it’s not as yellowish as before! You can also see that there are dark spots on the corners of my teeth and those dark spots look brighter now. I did not feel any discomfort on my teeth or an increased sensitivity during my usage. So hopefully this toothpaste will do well on those who have sensitive teeth too. 

I have tried whitening toothpaste before such as Colgate Optic White and Pepsodent Whitening Toothpaste, but none of them gave me visible result like Swissdent. 

You can use this toothpaste whenever you want, daily or when you think that you need a charming bright smile to impress a lot of people. As for me, I’m happy that I don’t need to cut back on my coffee/tea/wine consumption. 2x2 mins a day and my teeth is bright and look great!

Review - Garnier Light Complete White Speed Super Essence

I’m back today with an update on Garnier Light Complete White Speed Super Essence. I had used it for one week and let’s dig in on how this Super Essence works on me.

Let’s talk about the packaging and the texture first. The packaging is in small tube dominated with white and yellow colors (Garnier White Speed color). The tube has a screw top instead of pop cap. The serum texture is quite runny, so please be careful when you opened the cap. I usually will open it with the mouth of the tube facing up, that way the serum will not spill out easily. The serum color is like diluted milk, almost transparent color. 

Due to the light and runny texture, you don’t need a lot of it to apply to your face and neck. I like how the serum is light and absorbed quite easily on the skin. The scent is refreshing with a little bit of lemon scent. No need to worry because the scent will fade away quickly. I apply it evenly to my face and neck twice a day before my moisturizer. 

During my usage of Garnier White Speed Super Essence, I felt that my skin started to feel really dry starting on the fourth day. My So, I added SK-II Facial Treatment Repair C before applying Super Essence. I also opted my creamier and high hydration moisturizer to seal everything up. My skin felt better, but until day 7, my skin still felt dry and started to look a bit dull because of it. 

My utmost skin problem is my skin pigmentation aka spots all over my face. I tried many spot controlling products but to no avail, the spots are still there *cry* even though they claimed to make the spots disappear or fade away. Well, guess what? Not even close to fading away. Garnier White Speed Super Essence is no exception, also failing on controlling my spots. But, I did notice that my acne scars disappeared rather quickly than usual and leave my skin smooth again. As for the brightening effect, I could not say much because my skin is already on the fair side, so there are not much difference between before and after.

So that’s my take on Garnier Light Complete White Speed Super Essence. I also inserted an image of Garnier Light Complete White Speed guidance in applying the skincare products to get that bright and lovely complexion. Hope this review will help you and have a lovely day, gorgeous people!

Unboxing - Garnier Light Complete White Speed Super Essence

Last month, I got a big white box with a yellow ribbon from Garnier Indonesia. Apparently it’s a hamper filled with Garnier Light Complete White Speed products. Garnier is going to launch their newest whitening serum called Garnier Light Complete White Speed Super Essence, a concentrated anti-spot whitening serum. Curious of what’s inside the box? Let’s find out together!

The box is from sturdy cardboard and you have to open it like opening a drawer. My box got a little dent on the top due to the shipment, hiks.. so pardon the little flaw on the picture. When I opened it, I could smell a soft scent of lemon from the box. The lemon scent coming from a small yellow lemon candle, so cute! Inside the box, I found 4 products, all from Light Complete White Speed Series. 

The brightening scrub, serum cream, and the super essence (they send me 2 boxes). I have reviewed Garnier White Speed Brightening Scrub and Serum Cream on my blog last year.

And now Garnier has the newest addition to the family which is the Super Essence, a concentrated anti-spot whitening serum. This serum claims to help reduce the skin darkening from melanin just within 6 days. Sounds awesome, yes? And a perfect timing too since the sun has been scorching hot lately. I hope that this serum will come to the rescue for discoloration and uneven skin tone.

Sariayu Masker Beras Putih

Happy Independence Day Indonesia!! It has been 70 years and I wish that our country will be able to keep on thriving for the best. I am hoping to see more and more development, not only in physically but also mentally. Let us all pray every day for the betterment of our country.

In the spirit of Independence Day, I will dedicate some of my blog posts in this month for reviewing and sharing my love for local Indonesian products.
Last month, I bought several face masks to try from Sariayu. I also bought a long time favorite product, Peeling Mundisari from Mustika Ratu, a face and body scrub that works wonders since I was a teenager. It has been a long time since I tried them and would love to share my experience with all of you.

The first product that I am going to review today is the Masker Beras Putih from Sariayu.
Sariayu is one of the prominent local beauty brands in Indonesia that was launched in 1977 by DR. Martha Tilaar, one of many inspiring women in Indonesia. Inspired by local wisdom and natural resources, they aim to make all women look completely beautiful in natural way.

Masker Beras Putih is a whitening face mask and contains lemon peel extract, known to its ability to brighten your complexion. I chose this one first to try as I am still in my effort to reduce the post acne spots on my face that suffered from a breakout a month ago.

The mask is in powder form and you have to mix it up with water or rose water and create a paste with it. I chose to mix it with rose water and bought myself a bottle of Sari Air Mawar Putih for this purpose. The rose water smells heavenly and so fresh. I put some of it in a little spray bottle and spritz it on my face if I needed a pick me up refreshment. 

Anyway, back to the mask. The powder is white with a little bit of yellow tinge.
The smell is a bit pungent but once you mix it with the rose water, it will not be that bad.
At first, I planned to only use half of the package because my face is small and I thought one package will be too much. But then I decided to pour the whole package to the plate and pamper my neck area too.
After the paste is formed, I applied the mask to my face. If you have a mask or foundation brush, you can apply it with that. I used my fingers to apply it because I don’t have either of them. As you can see, the application using fingers is a bit splotchy. I am pretty sure brush application will give more even and well distributed mask on your face hahaha..

My face felt cool when I applied the mask and I let it sit on my face for a good 15 mins. At the first 5-7 mins, I felt a stinging sensation on my face, I thought maybe because of the lemon peel extract. But afterwards, the feeling is gone and only leaves the cool sensation.

I cleaned my face with a warm damp face towel and did not use facial wash again afterwards. Make sure that you really clean your face because you don’t want the mask to clog your pore. I proceeded by applying my usual skincare routine.

Unlike my experience of SK II Whitening mask, the result was not that significant. Maybe because most of the ingredients are also natural, so it will take more time to show real results. I supposed regular usage will show better result. Even though it did not instantly make my face brighter but it did make my face looked fresher.

Garnier Light Complete White Speed - Review

With it’s tagline “1 week to shine”, Garnier promises to give an instant result within 1 week to get brighter skin tone. I had spent one week to try The Garnier Light Complete White Speed series. There are 4 products that I had tried:

• Garnier Light Complete White Speed Scrub

• Garnier Light Complete White Day Cream

• Garnier Light Complete White Day Cream with Extra SPF

• Garnier Light Complete Night Restore

I am a believer in using products under the same range to get maximum performance of the products. That is why I decided to try all of them.

Let’s start with the scrub. It is said that the scrub is safe for daily use, but I only use it for 3 times in a week because I think scrubbing my face 3 times a week is more than enough. I am not a fan of the scrub because it is basically a facial wash with micro beads that I found not scrubbing my face really well. I also dislike the tightness feeling on my skin after I rinse my face dry. Remember the squeaky clean like a dishwasher commercial that I mentioned before on my previous blog post about my skincare regime? That was what I felt after I use the scrub. The scent is refreshing though. 

Next, I tried the day cream (the one in the tube packaging). I was curious because it is said it will not make your face oily and greasy for the whole day. I love day cream that can deliver that. But unfortunately, this was also not my cup of tea. I understand that this product is for normal to oily skin, so maybe that is why it did not fit me. My skin is a bit complicated, easily get dehydrated but can be oily sometimes on the T-zone. The texture of the cream is thick and when I applied it to my skin, it felt starchy and it created streaky white marks on my face. I have to really rub my skin to spread it all evenly. It did not make my face shiny for about 6-7 hours, but when I touched my face it felt a bit sticky. I just don’t like the texture and how it sits on my face. I tried to top this cream for 3 days with different face base. I tried tinted moisturizer, CC cream, and BB cream. But none of them give a good result. So I gave up and move to the other product, the day cream with extra SPF. 

The Day Cream Extra turned out to be better than its sibling. The texture is not that thick and it glides on my skin well. I have no problem in applying the cream and also topping it with my makeup. All went well with this one.. Hurrahhh!! The shine control duration is a little bit shorter which I noticed only last for 5-6 hours until I have to blot. But at least this one did not give me sticky feeling on my skin. My skin was kept moist the whole day and I like it.

Another favorite from this line is the Night Restore. This cream texture is runnier than the Day Cream Extra, but its fine by me because this cream also glides easily on my skin. It moistured my skin well and when I wake up in the morning my face did not feel sticky or dry but just the right feeling of moisturized and bright. This cream is a keeper and I will use it whenever I need that instant brightener boost for my skin.

All of the products have wonderful scent. It smells fresh and clean, suitable with its look and packaging. Below is my before and after picture within one week of Garnier Light Complete White Speed series (please pardon the eye bags and dark circles). All pictures taken in bare face without any makeup on. It did not really give significant skin tone result on me because my skin tone is already light. But, you can see that the redness in my face is reduced and my skin looks brighter. The dullness is gone and the skin feels smoother. I also relieved that these products did not give me breakouts because sometimes it happens when I change my skincare. 

Some of you might worry if these products are safe to use because its instant result. Worry not, their active ingredients already declared safe by the dermatologist to use. Their serum cream technology also helps the product to be absorbed better by the skin so you can feel the effect immediately.

I already tried them.. Now, its your turn to try!
