Review - Sarange Sinseonhan Natural Phyto Whitening Toner

Hello gorgeous!

Pantas saja kulitku jadi ga kering.

Lalu hasilnya sendiri bagaimana? Aku sudah menggunakan toner ini kurang lebih selama 2 minggu. So far sih toner ini tidak menimbulkan efek buruk apapun di kulit aku. No breakout, no whiteheads.

Thank you for reading and have a cheerful week!

Cheers,
Stef

Beauty Treatment - Korean Eyelash Extensions at ORLY miin

Hello gorgeous!

As I promised, today I'm going to share my experience on having a Korean eyelash extensions. I had been wanting to have an eyelash extensions for quite sometime, but haven't get the chance to do it. Apparently it was not as scary as I thought and I will tell you all about it here.

Last week, I had a meetup with my fellow bloggers that I knew from Clozette Indonesia because we are all Star Clozetters. It was the first time that we met but it seemed that we have known each other for a long time. Our lunch was full of chatters and laughter.

At that day, we got an offer from Orly miin, a beauty lounge located at Plaza Indonesia, 4th floor, to get a beauty treatment as part of their grand opening promotion this month. So, off we went to check it out. I was so excited because this is actually my first time getting a beauty treatment in a beauty lounge together with my girlfriends :)

Orly miin is the newest premium beauty lounge opened in Plaza Indonesia. Its name miin in Korean language means beautiful woman. It's inline with their vision and mission to make the world more beautiful and to make all woman in Indonesia truly beautiful with healthy skin. Why Korean name? Because the founder of Orly miin is Mr. Kang Bong Ju, a native Korean who has 9 years of experience in the beauty world. You can see the services Orly miin offers on the picture below. The services cater your needs from head to toe. They even offer nail care service for children too! I'm imagining a mother-daughter date happens here :)

Me and my girlfriends was given the choice which beauty treatment that we want to do. I chose the Korean Eyelash Extensions. I do not have the courage to try their the semi permanent makeup such as eyebrow, eyeliner, or lips embroidery. So kudos for Ellen, Jennifer, and Cathrine who did the semi permanent make up treatment *clapping hands*. Even doing an eyelash extensions gives me the jitters because I never done anything like this before. And some people said that usually your eyelashes can go bald if you do it too many times. What a horrific testimony, right?

So, what makes me finally agree to do it? Days before the treatment, I googled everything related to Korean eyelash extensions. The process, the equipment, and the pros and cons. Yes, I'm such a paranoid when it comes to beauty treatment hahaha. I just want to familiarize myself with everyhting that I'm going through so I would not be too shocked with the process or the result. My search showed that it's actually a very safe procedure and not painful at all. When I arrived at Orly miin, I'm more convinced to do it because they only use premium quality equipment and products with the latest technology from Korea to make sure that their customers get the best result and satisfied with the services. All of their staffs are well trained (by an expert directly from Korea) and they have high standards of hygiene and sanitation. So I believed that I'm in good hands :)

The lashes to be glued one by one to our real eyelashes
Mbak Shinta is my beautician. She said that the process usually takes 90-120 minutes, depends on the lashes and the look that we are going to achieve. She asked me what look that I wanted and how curl the eyelashes are. I choose the double but natural and curlier eyelashes.

The process more or less is like this:

  • First, she cleansed my eye area from the makeup that I applied. This is important because we want to make sure the eyelashes are clean so the glue will stick better.
  • After that, she put a patch at the under of my eyes to stick my lower lashes so that it will not interfere with the upper lash extensions. The patch is really good, it has a cooling effect and I felt my eyes get treat too while the process.
  • Then, she applied an eyelash primer to prep the eyelashes.
  • The magic started. She started to apply the lash extensions one by one to my real eyelashes. No wonder it took 90 minutes, because it needs to be done meticulously to get a wonderful result.
  • Lastly, she blow dry my eyelashes (with a cool setting) to make sure the extensions glued well to my lashes and the glue really dry.

VOILA!! Look at the result! I look like a doll! :D

I love the result even though at first I thought that the lashes were too curly. It's like my eyelashes got an electric shock hahaha I think its because I'm not used to it so it looked like Va Va Voom! I'm very happy with it and satisfied with how Mbak Shinta did her job. The whole process did not hurt and the lashes look beautiful.Once I saw pictures of a bad eyelash extensions. The beautician did not do it carefully, so the extensions glued to not one, but several lashes, so it made the eyelashes look clumped and unnatural. Or sometimes the beautician glued more than one extensions to one eyelash, makes it really heavy and break the real eyelash.

After the treatment, I played around at Orly miin, exploring other products they carry at their beauty lounge. Checking out what my girlfriends doing and chatted with the staffs. I tried Kocostar 6 Way Hydrogel Eye Patch, a hydro-gel patches that contains 5 main active ingredients, Peony, Philinus, Ginseng, Baikal Skullcap, and Gold. The patches help to tone, condition, detoxify, brighten, and firm the areas that you put the patch on. It is called 6 ways, because you could put them on 3 pairs of different areas of your face. The eyelids, under eyes, and sides of mouth. The patches stick well and did not feel greasy at all. You barely feel it there actually. It has cooling effect, even after 20 minutes of usage the patches still feel cool. My eyes loving it!

Orly miin also carries other products from Kocostar such as sheet mask, hair treatment, and nail treatment. They also have 384 nail polish colors and 398 gel polishes from ORLY which allow you an unlimited creation of nail art. I think I know what next beauty treatment that I'm going to get at Orly miin *wink wink*

Review - Lancome Blanc Expert Cushion Compact

Hello gorgeous! How are you today? As I promised before, today I’m going to review Lancome Blanc Expert Cushion Compact. I have been using it several times, so hopefully I can give a thorough review about it.

As you remember, I chose Mademoiselle as my pin up and I still can’t stop adoring it. It is so pwweettttyyy.. Lancome Blanc Expert Cushion Compact is one handy make up product.

With the tag #cushiontogo, Blanc Expert Cushion Compact tried to assist women in their busy life by providing an easy breezy make up base. But don’t be fooled with its handiness, Blanc Expert Cushion Compact is packed up with numerous qualities. I took this from Lancome website:

The power of light: its formula is enriched with pine extract, known for its depigmenting properties. The complexion is left radiant, illuminated with transparent perfection.

The moisturising duo: the association of an emollient agent, ester oil, and glycerine improves skin’s water content, leaving it softer and smoother. 4-hour hydrating action for skin’s well-being and comfort*.

Visibly smoother skin: the polymer’s gel texture combines with the pigments’ coverage for a blur effect. Pores and surface imperfections are reduced, as though minimised. Skin texture is visibly more even.

Visibly younger skin: the formula is enriched with adenosine, known for its anti-wrinkle properties. Skin is left more luminous and smoother, as though rested.

Photo-protection: with SPF 23/PA++ to protect the complexion from UVA and UVB, to help prevent the formation of age spots and the signs of sun-related photo-ageing.

Quite impressive, yes? Now, let’s go to the real life review from my usage.

I know that most of cushion products usually only have two or three shades available. But Lancome Blanc Expert Cushion Compact has seven shades to accommodate Asian skin colors, so do not worry that you cannot find your shade. My shade is O-01 which is warm undertone, leaning to yellow-ish undertone. The shade fits me perfectly.

As you can see, the liquid foundation is trapped there in that airy cushion that is able to keep the fluid fresh. Curious with the cushion, I touch it with my fingers (of course it’s washed before hehehe) and the cushion feels so soft, unlike the other cushion products that usually feels a bit bouncier. You should remember not to press too hard when you press the applicator to the cushion or you will get too much product on the applicator.

The coverage is light to medium as it beautifully evens out my skin tone but not really covers my dark spots and of course my under eye ring. It is great for daily makeup where you don’t want to wear heavy makeup. If you need more coverage, just dab your concealer here and there on the spots that you want to cover. Lancome Blanc Expert Cushion Compact also gives you a dewy and glow look. I love dewy look, but to use it on myself, I just simply can’t. I mean, only using cushion compact without setting it with a powder somehow makes me feel uncomfortable because I will feel that it will melt out of my face right away or get transferred easily everywhere. So, I usually will still set the cushion compact with my loose powder but set it very lightly when I still want to keep that dewy look.

Lancome Blanc Expert Cushion Compact also delivers its promise on the moisturizing part. The cushion compact doesn’t dry my skin at all. My skin still feels plumped even after 4 hours of application. But here’s the catch, in my opinion, you need to use a primer before the cushion compact. At first, I tried applying the cushion without primer and to my disappointment, it oxidized and my makeup started to melt out after 4-5 hours. Then, I tried using it with primer and the makeup last longer while still holding my skin moisture. If you have dry skin, I supposed this is the perfect cushion for you with or without primer because it will help retaining your skin moisture level well. I found that the end results different depending on what kind of primer that I apply before hand, so try your own mix to find the perfect result on your skin. For me, so far the cushion compact works best with Ettusais UV Block Base or Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer.

Lancome Blanc Expert Cushion Compact has a light and fresh scent which adds a lovely ambiance when you apply it to your face. Lancome sells it separately between the cushion case and the cushion refill. So when you already run out of it, you just need to buy the cushion refill. The price tag is definitely higher than other cushion products out there but with the benefits that Lancome offers, it might be worth it. It has UV protection to although it is lower than other Korean cushion products, but SPF 23/PA++ supposedly enough if you spend most of your time indoor.

In conclusion, I would say that Lancome Blanc Expert Cushion Compact is a wonderful cushion compact due to its lightweight and moisturizing ability. If you are a big fan of cushion compact, you will want this baby sits on your vanity, especially if you still can get that pin up sticker from Ayang Cempaka. It totally amps up the loveliness of the cushion compact. It makes me want to touch up all the time and everywhere just to get that adoration from people around me ;)

Sulwhasoo Basic Essential Kit

Hello gorgeous! As I promised before on my instagram account a few weeks ago, I will share my experience in trying Sulwhasoo basic skincare set. I am grateful I got the chance to try Sulwhasoo basic skincare set. I got mine from Sulwhasoo counter a while ago by reposting their picture on my account. It is a small sample, honestly it did not enough for me to give or show you considerable changes on my skin since the application of the skincare. But at least, by using it for 1-2 weeks, I could try and see if it agrees with my skin. I have not changed my skincare for the last 5 years. Yes, there are some trial here and there, but I always come back to my basic skincare which is from SK II (you can read my skincare regime here). But now, along with my beauty addiction adding up, I have more knowledge about more products worth to try.

Sulwhasoo has been capturing my interest with its holistic approach skincare by not only using natural ingredients but they also pay attention on the method of the production; a Korean traditional heritage.

The set contains of a sachet of Gentle Cleansing Foam, a sachet of First Activating Care Serum, a vial of Essential Balancing Water, and a vial of Essential Balancing Emulsion. The cleanser and the serum lasted for 5 days (used twice a day) and the vials lasted for around 2 weeks (used twice a day). Please note that the duration here is what I experienced and I have small face so I did not have to put a lot amount of product on my face.

I follow the instructions inside the packaging of the kit.

First, I started with cleansing my face with the cleansing foam. It is in clear liquid form and I usually created the foam by adding a little bit of water after I dispensed it on my hand. Lather it all over your face and neck then rinse with water. I am happy that the cleansing foam did not make my skin dry.

After preparing my skin with SK II Facial Clear Lotion as a toner, I continued it with the First Activating Care Serum, which is their best seller. The serum is a boosting serum that claims can boost up your other skincare products to its optimal result. It is said that it helps to maintain your skin moisture and balance it so your other skincare will be absorbed optimally by the skin. The serum color is golden brown and the texture is light. Apply it to your face and massage your face a little bit and warm it up by wrapping your face with your palm at the end of the application.

The next step is the Essential Balancing Water that acts as balancer and delivers deep hydration. I love how it felt on my skin. The gel-like texture is absorbed by my skin well, leaving it so hydrated and I felt that it soothe my skin down.

The last step is Essential Balancing Emulsion. This is a moisturizer that is formulated with Korean herbs to make a softer and smoother skin. It is a very light moisturizer; the texture is not creamy, it glides and absorbed easily by the skin too. But even though it’s light, my skin felt soft and hydrated well after the application. You can add another layer of moisturizer if you felt that the emulsion is not enough to hydrate your skin.

All of the products mentioned have herbal ginseng-ey scent that I found lovely. It is calming and soothing. But I understand that not everybody fond of a scent (or an herbal scent) in their skincare, especially when you have a sensitive skin.  I would suggest to trying them out first on the counter or asking for some samples to bring home.

So, what is the verdict? I love it!
I am very glad that my skin did not acting out and no breakout at all during the trial *phewww*. My skin felt soft and smooth during the trial. It is a great basic skincare set which you can tweak here and there by adding other products such as serums or moisturizers to layer around. It will work wonderfully for you who have normal to combination skin. Will I purchase the full size products? I might, maybe after I finished my current skincare.

Last week, Sulwhasoo just launched their newly improved First Activating Care Serum EX. Unfortunately, I did not have the time to go there and try them out. It is said that its new formula is able to deliver better results due to the upgraded JAUM Balancing ComplexTM with Sulwhasoo’s proprietary technology to take the benefits of medicinal herbs to a higher level.
Anybody has tried the basic essential care yet? If yes, kindly let me know how it works for you. Have a wonderful Sunday, peeps!! *kisses*

Cheers,
Stefi

Korea Haul

I have to be honest to you that my Cheon Song Yi obsession is not over yet, so naturally when my mom going to Korea last month,I asked her to snatch me some IOPE lipsticks. She helped me to get my hands on these Innisfree lipstick as well. And throw in some Etude House sheet masks for me.
Sulwhasoo Snowise BB cream has been my HG BB cream till date but unfortunately Sulwhasoo counter here has not yet have them. I was lucky that my dad able to get it at Incheon duty free few minutes before they have to board the plane hahaha

Oh how I wish I can go to South Korea and do make up shopping by myself there. I might need a leash to keep myself from getting crazy all over those shops.
I love Asia skincare and makeup. They seem to understand more about us,Asian people. In my experience, Asian brands are more accommodating in terms of texture, color, and ingredient. They understand more about our skin type and the weather of Asian countries. They also understand about our colors preferences too, such as our undertones (mine is yellow) or colors in makeup that fits us. Oh and don't forget about the packaging, some of Japanese and Korean cosmetics have to die for packaging.

My favorite brands for Asian cosmetics are Sulwhasoo,SK II, Etude House, Innisfree, Iope, Laneige and of course Shu Uemura.
I would love to get my hands on Three, Addiction, and RMK since I heard many good things about them. A lot of beauty bloggers also raving about Suqqu eye quad and the makeup brushes. I better stop now because makeup wishlist will never stop, right? Hahaha

Will do review on these products in the future post. A good February indeed. Wishing all of you a lovely February!
