Review - Three Ultimate Protective Pristine Primer and Three Flawless Ethereal Fluid Foundation

Hello gorgeous!
Today I’m going to give you a review about my current favorite primer and foundation. It’s Three Cosmetics, a Japanese brand that is well known for using organic botanical oils in its products. I knew this brand for quite some time since I was in Bangkok and heard many good things about it. So naturally, I was so excited when they opened their counter in Indonesia at Central Department Store, Grand Indonesia.

I got myself the infamous combo of Ultimate Protective Pristine Primer and Flawless Ethereal Fluid Foundation. It is a purchase that I don’t regret because it worth every penny that I spent on them. Let’s go to the review, starting with the packaging because both of them have similar bottle.

The packaging is frosted glass bottle with a white pump to dispense the products out. It has a dark gray cap made of matte plastic. While it looks good, but it gets easily smudged by the leftover makeup on your hand after you applied the product. The frosted glass is great though, it gives you the luxurious feel whenever you look or touch them. The whole design of it is minimalist which aligned with Three Cosmetics concept, minimalist and natural. The pump works well too in dispensing the product. I usually need 2 pumps each for primer and foundation to covers my face and neck areas.

Both the primer and foundation are 80% made from naturally derived ingredients and contain Inca inchi (Plukenetia volubilis) oil, Camellia oleifera seed oil, Argania spinosa kernel oil, jojoba oil, evening primrose (Oenothera biennis) oil, rosehip oil, shea butter, beeswax. Those ingredients mostly are organic certified too. They have no scent and free from parabens, synthetic perfumes, animal-derived ingredients, and mineral oils. As for sun protection, these babies have pretty high amount of sun protection than the other primer or foundation on the market. The primer has SPF32+++ UV protection and the foundation has SPF36+++ UV Protection. Since it’s made mostly from natural ingredients, I supposed Three Cosmetics is safe for you who have sensitive skin. In my experience using these two, I never experience any breakouts or acne at all.

Now, we will go on to the individual review. I will start with Three Ultimate Protective Pristine Primer.
They have two type of primer, the Glow and Translucent. I chose the Glow because it said that it will give my skin a glowy yet natural finish. The primer will help to alleviate the dullness on my skin too. The texture is a little bit gel-ish and even the shade is beige, it will adjust to your skin tone after you applied it to your face only leaving a hint of beige on the skin which might be helping to remove the dullness from your skin. The texture is lightweight too and it glides easily on my skin. It reminds me to Laura Mercier Foundation Primer except Three Pristine Primer is a tad thicker. But the funny thing is my skin seems to absorb it easier than Laura Mercier one. Three Ultimate Protective Pristine Primer gives me a good layer of well moisturized and plumped skin to receive coverage from foundation while helping my makeup to stay longer. On the picture below, you could see that the primer creates a layer of glowy canvas on your skin.

The next one is Three Flawless Ethereal Fluid Foundation. The texture is not as gel-ish the primer, but it is a lightweight foundation. It glides smoothly on your face and immediately gives a smooth and natural finish to your skin. The coverage is light to medium, so if you wanted more coverage, you will need an extra layer of concealer to hide your spots and scars. I find it covers the redness on my face quite well and I love how natural the finish is. It’s perfect for that no makeup look because it gives your skin enough coverage to even out your skin tone while it gives the glow that you need. Use it with Three Ultimate Protective Pristine Primer to get the most result. The foundation last on me up to 12 hours if I use it with the primer and around 5-6 hours before I have to blot my face. I love how the primer and foundation did not dry my face but do not make it oily. It’s just the perfect balance. On the picture below, you could see that the foundation sink well on my skin and the finish is so natural like my own skin. Understand what I meant before when I said I'm totally in love with its finish?

All in all, both products are extremely amazing. It has good quality ingredients and delivers wonderful result. Definitely putting them on my all time favorite base makeup products. These two has become my number one choice if I want to achieve a flawless yet natural look. Three Cosmetics also have other products that I wanted to try, such as their cleansing oil, lipstick, and eyeliner. Gahhhh so many products but only one face. The struggle of a makeup junkie is never ending hahaha..

Have you tried Three Cosmetics products before? Please share your experience down here on the comment box if you have tried them before. Have a great weekend, gorgeous people!

Cheers,

Halloween Makeup - Vampire Look

Helloooo again gorgeous!
As you all know, October is Halloween month anddd Halloween is an event where once in a year all the makeup artist go full throttle and all out in squeezing their each drop of creativity to look spooky, scary, or even magnificent. I love browsing through Instagram; using #halloweenmakeup #halloweenmakeupideas #halloweenmakeupinspiration #halloweenmakeuplook and looking at all those amazing makeup.

This Halloween, I finally collect my courage to do a Halloween makeup look. I never dare to make one before because I thought that I will never be able to do those things (especially the ones with special effects and all). But then I really wanted to do something different on my blog other than just reviewing products, so I took the chance and just do it.

The look I created is a vampire look. I chose this because it's the infamous Halloween look that has been done by many people in the world, so I could get as many references aka tutorials as I could. I love watching those tutorials because it amazes me how those makeup artists or makeup gurus able to transform their faces into something totally different by just using makeup. You should’ve seen my face reaction when I watched those Halloween tutorials. I was like woowww.. ooohhh… aahhhh.. being awed by their skills painting their faces :D

One tutorial that particularly inspired me is from Michelle Phan's. It's an old video from 6 years ago where she did a tutorial about a seductive vampire look. Click here for the video link
I will not giving you a Halloween makeup tutorial in this post, but only going to describe what I did when I did my makeup, so it’s more into the basics that you need to remember if you wanted to make similar look. Ok, let’s start now.

  • Prep your skin with your usual skincare routine. Make sure that your skin is toned and moisturized before you put any makeup on.
  • Vampire skin is pale and smooth. Remember to use a primer (a pore perfecting primer) before you apply foundation to achieve that poreless and smooth vampire look. As for the pale shade, use a foundation that is 2-3 times lighter than your usual shade. I mixed my foundation with a white foundation cream to get a lighter shade. Apply the foundation onto your neck too to avoid looking like you’re wearing a mask.
  • Don’t forget to shade and highlight your face. Vampires usually have defined cheekbones, jaws, and nose bridges.
  • No blush needed. Have you ever saw Edward Cullen cheeks flushed??
  • Black eyeliner is a must. Period.
  • No false lashes unless you are trying to be a vampire doll or vampire Barbie.
  • Fangs are optional. With or without you will still look pretty *smooch*

Products that I used are the following:

Benefit The Porefessional Primer
Shu Uemura Lightbulb Foundation shade 764
PAC Creamy Foundation in White
Urban Decay Book of Shadows Vol III shade Rockstar and Last Call
Urban Decay Naked On The Run Palette shade Fix (to contour) and Dare (for the eyes)
Stila Chocolate Palette (using the dark brown color for the eyes)
Shu Uemura Eyebrow Pencil Hard Formula 9 in Seal Brown
Urban Decay 24/7 Eyeliner in Zero
Dior Diorshow Waterproof Mascara
IOPE Colorfit Lipstick No.18 Classic Red (I mixed it with the black eyeliner to achieve a darker red on the lips)
Kawaii Angel Circle Lens in Gray

As this is my first attempt on doing a Halloween makeup, so please forgive me if there are a lot of flaws here and there. I should’ve worn a lighter shade of lens to really give a good contrast on the eyes makeup because that’s actually is all about for this look. But I supposed this lens will do too. I did not contour my face bolder and as a result, my face is not defined and chiseled enough. But nevertheless, I had a great time creating this look and having fun with it.

This vampire look is pretty easy to make and I think is very versatile too. You can tone it down a notch and it can become your going-on-a-party smokey eye kind of look.

I’m actually preparing another Halloween look for this year and hopefully I can post it on time here on my blog. The clue? It involved a wig and another circle lens. I hope you enjoy reading this post and get inspired to do Halloween makeup too. What is your Halloween makeup this year? Who is your favorite makeup artist or your favorite Halloween makeup look this year? If you did a Halloween makeup, please say Hi to me on my IG and I will check on yours.

Cheers,

Stef

Beauty Story - Luminous Primer and CC Cream

Hello gorgeous! I cannot believe that it has been 6 months in 2015. As for me, this mid year is the busiest time of the year so far. Lots of things need to be done and time seems not on my side (said the procrastinator ;p). How’s your New Year resolution so far? Crossing some of it already or still working on it? Well, no matter how many lists you have crossed; never forget to always enjoy the process, the present moment and spend quality time with your loved ones. Always be positive and be passionate in everything you do :)

This is actually a very late post and I’m realllllyyy sorry. I thought that I would make a separate post and categorize it based on face, lips, and nails. As a preview on what I’m gonna review, you can check below pictures. On this post, I will only review the face products which are Beauty Story Luminous Primer Smooth & Luminous and Beauty Story Magical CC Cream.

If you remembered a few post before, I wrote about Beauty Story, a local brand that launched few months ago. I had the chance to try some of their products and impressed with their quality, I adopted some for myself. The first one is The Beauty Story Luminous Primer Smooth & Luminous which from now, I’m just gonna call it BS Luminous. It is a base make up and works as primer, which means you use it under your foundation or your sunscreen routine. Primer helps to prep your skin, smoothen them out, so it’s ready for the next base makeup. Some primer also able to cover your pores, makes your skin look flawless. So, what is so special about BS Luminous? This primer is pearls based. It has gold, pink, and green pearl tint that could brighten your skin.

Are you familiar with Guerlain Meteorites?  Well, this is the liquid version of it (a lot cheaper too!). BS Luminous will give you a luminous bright skin without making it Edward Cullen diamond sparkly. Its primer function also makes my skin looks smoother although not so much action in pore covering. But I think with its pearly based and the shimmer is wonderfully soft and fine, it will diffuse the light and makes the pore less visible. The oil control of BS Luminous is around 5 hours with loose powder to set your makeup base. I never not set my makeup base without loose powder, so I don’t know how long it takes until the oil will gain control on your face again.

On the picture I tried to apply it on my hand so it will be clearly visible to you. I tried to capture it when I’m using it on my face, hopefully you can see the luminous skin that I am talking about.
You have to remember that the consistency is pretty thin, so a little comes a long way. Be careful not to squeeze too much products out.

The next product is The Beauty Story Magical CC Cream. I bet a lot of you already know what the difference between BB Cream and CC Cream is, so I will go straight explaining about the product. I only had tried one CC Cream, which is Hera CC Cream. Hera’s CC cream texture is a bit similar to BB cream, it is pigmented and a bit thick. In the contrary, BS Magical Cream texture is moussey and light.

Do not need to be surprised at first when you applied it to the face because the cream is white. The cream will adjust to your skin color and evens it out. On me, the cream brightened my complexion and made it look smooth too. It did not feel too sticky and easy to blend. Another wonderful part is that it contains SPF 30 PA ++. It just like the cream claimed, a multi tasking cream that not only brighten, evens out skin tone, moisturizing, and UVA UVB protection.

This is a CC Cream; means the coverage is minimum, so you still need to add concealer if you want a flawless look. The oil control lasted for around 4 hours on me.
I love wearing this cream on the days when I don’t feel like wearing too much make up or when I just need to run errands. It gives me a simple but fresh look.

I hope you find my review useful. Don’t forget that I will do another review on other products from Beauty Story. With a good quality product and wonderful packaging, Beauty Story is definitely a great contender coming in Indonesia’s beauty world. It is paraben free and no animal testing too! What have you tried so far? Please let me know.

Cheers,
Stef
