Event - SK-II Festive Suminagashi Blogger Party

Tidak terasa ya sebentar lagi kita akan memasuki akhir tahun. Ada tidak yang di sini gemar memberikan hadiah akhir tahun atau tahun baru untuk keluarga dan sahabat? Kalau ada, mungkin postingan aku hari ini bisa memberikan ide hadiah untuk tahun ini. 

1 November kemarin aku diundang oleh SK-II Indonesia untuk menghadiri launching dari Gift collection terbaru mereka. Mengusung tema Suminagashi, botol Facial Treatment Essence dikemas dengan desain unik yang sangat cantik dengan tiga tema warna, yaitu merah, biru, dan hijau. Kalau mendengar dari namanya pasti kamu tahu bahwa Suminagashi ini ada hubungannya dengan Jepang. Yak betul! Suminagashi adalah sebuah seni kuno melukis (marbling) di atas air dari Jepang. Suminagashi sendiri artinya ‘floating ink’ alias tinta yang mengambang.

Sebelum aku jelaskan lebih lanjut mengenai Suminagashi, aku mau share hasil skin check aku dengan menggunakan Magic Ring SK-II dulu ya. Terakhir kali cek kulit itu kalau tidak salah sudah hampir setahun yang lalu dan waktu itu usia kulitku 16 tahun! Kali ini, hasilnya tidak beda jauh, yaitu 18 tahun. Seneng banget lah hasilnya setengah dari umur asliku. 

Aku memang pengguna setia SK-II sejak 6 tahun yang lalu dan so far, skincare routine yang paling cocok buat aku ya SK-II ini hehehe.. Dengan Magic Ring ini, kulit kamu akan dilihat dari 5 dimensi, yaitu Texture, Radiance, Firmness, Wrinkle, dan Spot. Nilaiku paling rendah di dimensi Firmness yang berarti aku harus lebih rajin menggunakan skincare yang dapat menjaga kekencangan kulitku. 

Acara dimulai langsung dengan mengundang dua SK-II Ambassador, yaitu Susan Bachtiar dan Anggun C Sasmi ke atas panggung. Anggun bercerita mengenai pengalamannya melakukan seni Suminagashi dan berbagi mengenai kekagumannya akan filosofi yang ada di balik seni tersebut, yaitu bahwa tidak ada titik warna yang salah. Semua titik warna berharga dan jika dipadukan, akan menjadi sesuatu yang unik dan indah. Filosofi tersebut juga sesuatu yang sangat mengena di hati aku karena benar adanya semua manusia diciptakan berbeda dan masing-masing memiliki keunikan tersendiri dan peran dalam hidup ini sehingga terciptalah kehidupan yang indah. Setuju ga?

Susan Bachtiar juga sharing mengenai bagaimana keluarga adalah yang utama untuk Susan, karena keluarga lah yang selalu menjadi pendukung terbesar dalam kehidupannya. Jadi, momen akhir tahun seperti ini biasanya digunakan oleh Susan untuk berbagi hadiah dengan memberikan SK-II Festive Limited Edition Suminagashi Art untuk orang-orang tercintanya agar mereka dapat memiliki kulit sebening Kristal.

Selanjutnya, kedua ambassador dan semua tamu undangan diajak untuk mempraktekkan Suminagashi Art. Ibu Linda, salah satu pakar Suminagashi Art, menjelaskan langkah-langkah pembuatannya. Jadi, yang diperlukan adalah sebidang air, cat akrilik, dan kuas. Pertama-tama, teteskan cat yang diinginkan ke atas air, lalu torehkan kuas atau kayu untuk membentuk pola yang diinginkan. Tidak ada yang benar atau salah dalam seni ini, semua bebas berkreasi dengan warna dan torehan yang diinginkan. Setelah itu, ambil kain satin yang sudah direndam dengan Alumunium fosfat (agar cat dapat menempel dengan baik pada kain) dan tempelkan ke permukaan air sampai cat meresap ke dalam kain. Angkat dengan perlahan lalu keringkan, tadaaaaa.. Selesai deh Suminagashi Art! Cantik ya! 😊

Ini pertama kalinya aku melihat Anggun secara langsung dan aku sangat amat terpesona oleh kecantikan alami dan energy positifnya. She’s so humble and kind even though she’s already becoming an international star *fangirling hard*

Khusus untuk beauty blogger yang datang, kita semua ditantang untuk berkreasi menciptakan makeup dengan tema Suminagashi Art hanya dalam waktu 15 menit. Semua langsung berusaha membuat makeup sebagus mungkin sesuai dengan tema. Aku kebagian jadi model nih dan pasrah dimakeup oleh teman sesama blogger, yaitu Anita Maya. Seru deh pokoknya, semua rame hahaha

Walaupun akhirnya tidak menang games, tapi tetap senang soalnya bisa wefie bareng SK-II Ambassadors. Yeayyyy!! 😤💕💕

Review - SK-II Facial Spa

Two weeks ago, I had the chance to try out SK-II Facial Spa at one of SK-II counters. There are only four counters that able to carry the facial service, Sogo Plaza Senayan, Seibu Grand Indonesia, and I forgot the other two (sorry!) But unfortunately, SK-II Facial Spa is limited for members only with minimum spending per year and it’s given as a complimentary birthday gift. My birthday was on November and luckily I was still able to redeem my spa voucher on February. So here I would like to share my experience in having the facial.

The treatment was done by the Beauty Advisor and I was greeted nicely by her. Before we start the treatment, she asked me to change my top with the tube top spa towel so the treatment will not ruin my clothes. All the products used are from SK-II and the BA asked me first which skincare range that I usually use every day. My skin love Cellumination and Stempower, so she used those products on my skin. She also introduced me to LXP range (it’s actually for 40 something) which she said can help boost up my skin condition during the treatment. Definitely an offer that I couldn’t resist because LXP range is the most luxurious range from SK-II hehehe

The first step was cleansing my face. She used Facial Treatment Cleansing Oil to cleanse all the makeup from my face and then wipe it clean with a washcloth after she emulated it. Then, she applied Facial Treatment Clear Lotion to tone the skin. We will not forget about SK-II Facial Treatment Essence, right? This miracle water was patted down to my skin to complete my skin preparation. 

The next step is the SK-II LXP Activating Massage Fluid. The BA massaged my face and neck using the massage fluid and it felt really good. This product is used to help your skin fight the uneven skin tone, dullness, and lack of firmness. Enriched with Pitera, Niacinamide, and Vitamin C, this fluid is an oasis for your dull skin. She let the liquid to sit on my skin for around 10 minutes before she wiped it off and continued with the next step which is putting hot steam on my face. The steaming process is to open your pores so it can be cleaned and your skin can received better absorption from the products. Of course after steaming, came the extraction process to clean out the pores entirely from the whiteheads and blackheads. We want it to be thorough, yes? The process was not painful since it used a suction tube instead of the facial sharp tool. So, it’s bearable and you will not shed any tear because of it.  

Afterwards, for the mask, she applied SK-II Skin Rebooster, a gel mask that will help to moisture your skin instantly, leaving your skin supple and translucent. After the mask is applied, the BA then reached for the Ultrasonic tool and massages it all over my face which I assumed to enhance the penetration of the mask to my skin. Then, she left the hot steam again on my face for 5 minutes. After it’s done, she wiped off the mask and started to apply the skincare routine such as serum, moisturizer, and sunscreen. And we’re done! The BA leave me to change to my clothes again and doll myself up before I go. 

It’s not a fancy facial treatment with cutting edge technology. It’s a simple and basic facial treatment to pamper your skin. If you are an SK-II user, you not need to worry that the product used in the facial treatment will give you bad reaction. I love how it instantly boosts up my skin suppleness and luminosity. It felt moisturized and translucent just like what SK-II always promised. I wonder if it’s because of the LXP or the Skin Rebooster. Those two products are now officially going in my skincare wishlist!

You could see on the picture that my skin looks amazing! No makeup applied, fresh from the facial spa. I could say that I have a happy and grateful face. I wish that SK-II Indonesia will open its Facial Spa service for public such as the one in Singapore, the SK-II Boutique Spa by Senze Alus. I read many wonderful things about the boutique spa and hopefully one day I’m able to experience a facial there.

Last Saturday, I got invited by Female Daily Network to SK-II Indonesia Festive Blogger Party at Mal Kelapa Gading, where SK-II Indonesia introduced us to those lovely bottles.

Susan Bachtiar, the brand ambassador of SK-II Indonesia and Amalia Hayati, a beauty and skincare guru are there to share their festive season experience, especially about gifting. Susan told us that for her, a gift should be something personal and meaningful, that's why she never give food as a present for somebody because food doesn't feel that personal for her. As for Amalia, she believed that beauty products can be a lovely and thoughtful gift for our loved ones. She said that she would be very happy when her close friends give her beauty products.

Susan also adds that SK-II has the perfect gift set because SK-II always launches beautiful limited edition for holiday season that makes it not only a skincare, but also a collectible items. But personally I'm falling head over heels with the blue hummingbird bottle because the color is so vibrant and lovely! Blue is my other favorite color other than pink, so I adore this bottle a lot. I wish that this bottle will magically appear under my christmas tree hahaha

The event continued with a short session from SK-II Beauty Advisor on how to apply SK-II skincare correctly to our faces. Before the BA demonstrate how to apply the products, she did a skin check first to the model using SK-II Magic Ring. This tool can help us to know our skin condition by checking five different spectrums of our skin which are Texture Refinement, Firmness Power, Wrinkle Resilience, Spot Control, and Radiance Enhancement.
Normally, your skin is in okay condition when each of the spectrum reach 50%. Below 50% is bad and above 50% is good to great. This way, we get to know which spectrum that we need to pay extra care to. For example, if you have 40% Radiance Enhancement and 35% Wrinkle Resilience, it means that you need to add products that can help your skin glows and an anti aging to fight the unwanted wrinkles. So, make sure that you are using the right products and give your skin what it needed.
 
The basic steps are:

• Starts with a toner (Facial Treatment Clear Lotion or other type of SK-II toner) after you cleansed your face to freshen up your skin and lift the skin's dead cells. Apply it using a cotton pad and swipe it in upward motion on your face.

• Continue with Facial Treatment Essence to hydrate and prepare your skin for the serum and moisturizer. You can apply it using a cotton pad by tapping it lightly to your face or pour some on your palm and pat it all over your face. 

• The next step is serum. Apply the serum depends on what your need is. You can dot it to five points of your face or simply rub it between your palms then spread it out on your face in upward motions.

• Seal it with moisturizer. This one is also depends on what your skin needs based on your skincheck result. The application is similar like serum application. 

• On daytime, do not forget to use sunscreen on top of those layers to protect your skin from the damaging sun rays. 

When skincare is finished, we move on to Make Up Demo by Oscar Daniel, a prominent make up artist, who demonstrated three different make up looks based on the Wings of Change theme.
All the make up on the three models looked beautiful and flawless.

After the make up demo, we are free to explore the atrium and check out SK-II products. I'm particularly excited to try the Magic Ring test. I have been using SK-II skincare for four years and so far I'm still in love with it every single day because SK-II has been taking an excellent care of my skin. I have tried the Magic Ring some time ago because well, who's not curious wanting to know their skin age and skin condition, right? If I have the tool, I might've done it every day hahaha.. At that time, my skin age was 23 years old. Not bad, eh? 7 years younger than my real age.
But yesterday's result really surprised me because it said that my skin age is like a 16 years old. WOW!! Seriously?? 15 years younger than my actual age? *giving myself a pat in the back*

 

I supposed if you really take a good care of your skin, it will pay off and you will enjoy the result. So, ladies, please do invest on a good and suitable skincare because a great skin is a perfect canvas for everything that you put on it.
How to find a suitable skincare for you? I would say you need to get to know your skin first, then from there, build up your skincare routines one product at a time to really find out which product that gives you the optimum result. Don't give up if you haven't find the holy grail combo or products, just like Michael Buble said, "I just haven't met you yet" *big grin*
Make sure you get enough rest, no stress, and healthy food intake because those things also matter to support you in achieving your skin goals.

SK II Whitening Source Derm Revival Mask

I am a fan of SK II’s mask especially their Facial Treatment Mask. The mask can rejuvenate my dull skin in 20 minutes. It works wonderfully, so naturally I was also very excited to try on this mask. SK II Whitening Source Derm Revival Mask is a whitening and brightening mask that will give a brighter and diminishes your spots and skin’s imperfections. Each mask is soaked in rich gel serum that drenches your skin with the same amount of serum as one full bottle of Whitening Power Spots Specialist. Wowza, huh? 

When I opened the sachet, the mask is really soaked well, you can even squeeze it and put the gel serum into a bottle if you want hahaha.. I have one frugal tip that I got from a friend if you felt that such a shame to throw away the rest of the serum in the sachet. The tip is to squeeze the mask a little bit while you take it out from the sachet and then, after you put the mask on, immediately seal the sachet and put it inside a ziplock bag. Throw it into the fridge (not freezer) and you can soak any sheet face mask (Muji sells one) or even cotton pads in the serum and enjoy face mask part 2. Make sure that you use the rest of the serum within one week. 

After I cleansed and toned my skin, I put the mask on and put on 20 minutes timer. The mask felt cool and very hydrating even though its a whitening mask. The scent is similar to the whitening line SK II has and it is not a strong one, so you don’t have to worry being overwhelmed with the scent for 20 minutes of your mask time. The size of the mask is a bit big for me because I have a small face, so I have to fold some parts of the mask to keep it out of my hair. It happens with every sheet face mask I tried and this one is no exception. It cover and sat properly on my face. It was easy to put on and had proper size of holes for the eyes and mouth area. I hate it when I have to pout my mouth to fit it into the mask or wipe the serum off from my eyes because the hole is to small.

I usually try to meditate whenever I do my mask time. I like the quiet time when I put on my mask and definitely a great me time for unwinding and decompress your mind. If you wanted it to be more special, putting on some relaxing music can be an option too or maybe light up some scented candles for a maximum relaxation effect.

When the alarm beeped, it is time to take off the mask. I massage my face and neck with the rest of the serum left on my face until it’s fully absorbed by my skin. The result is amazing! My skin felt hydrated yet brightened up instantly. As you could see on the before and after pictures, the redness on my face reduced. My skin looked plumped and lovely. For me, this is another SK II product to love and to splurge on if I had spare budget.

I would recommend this mask for you who need instant brightening effect or when you feel your skin so dull and need a brightening boost. I would say it would be perfect too to use before a big event, to even out and enhance your complexion so your make up will look fabulous. What is your favorite brightening and whitening mask? Daily Skincare Regime

I wish you an amazing year full of joy, peace, adventure, and wisdom. May all your resolutions will come true! I am very excited with this year because I have a lot of things I want to achieve. One of them is maintaining this beauty blog and share my love for beauty products to the readers.
As my first post in 2015, I would like to share about my daily skincare regime. Lo and behold, this sharing will take you quite some time to read since there will be a quick review as well on the products that I use. 

A polished skin is necessary if you wanted your makeup to look good and sits perfectly on your face. Everybody has different skin type and condition, and it’s sure not an easy journey to find your best skincare regime or combo to get that healthy glowy skin. But nowadays, there are a lot of skincare products on the market that I believe can cater our skin’s needs and it’s a matter of trial and error until your skin get that perfect combination of products and finally can perform its best.

As for me, my skin type is normal to combination but has the tendency to get dehydrated. You can see it easily after I clean and wash my face, the skin is pretty dry and need quite moisture to make it not look dull. I don’t have a lot of problems with acne, just occasional zits that comes with my PMS period. I have big pores and some acne scars around the cheek that I wish I can photoshop in real life as well as the persistent eye bag that makes me look tired all the time.

I started to use skincare more than just facial wash since I was in senior high school. I started with using facial moisturizer. Gradually, I added toner, serum, and sunscreen. My skincare regime nowadays involves cleansing oil, facial wash, toner, essence, serum, moisturizer, sunscreen, and a frequent exfoliant. Occasionally I will slap on some facial mask when I feel my skin needs a boost up. 

Without any further due, let’s go to the details, shall we?

Cleansing

Kose Softymo Deep Cleansing Oil

La Roche Posay Physiological Cleansing Gel

The Body Shop Aloe Gentle Facial Wash

The first step is cleansing. In the morning, I would only wash my face using La Roche Posay since I do not put makeup on at night, so gentle cleansing is enough. As for night cleansing, I always do double cleansing by using Softymo cleansing oil first to remove all of my makeup and then followed by Garnier facial wash. I would lather my face with the cleansing oil first, massage it a bit to make sure that no traces of makeup left. Afterwards, I wash my face. 

Facial wash is the part of my skincare which I experiment on frequently because that’s the part which I know will least irritate my skin unlike trying on new serum or moisturizer. Unfortunately, up until now, I haven’t found my HG facial wash. I need something that I can feel that my face is squeaky clean when I wash it but without drying it after wash. You know that dry almost chalky feeling on your face after you wash it? Well, me no likey those kinds of facial wash. This is my first time using The Body Shop. I chose it because it is aimed for sensitive skin, so my thought it will not make my skin dry. It actually not, yeayyy!! When you press the pump, the foam will come out and usually I use 2 pumps for my face and my neck area.

You might ask why I dont just use LRP then? Before this variant, I tried the Toleriane line which the after wash effect is making my skin a tad dry, so I decided to get the more moisturizing one and the SA recommended me this line. I would say this cleanser is more like Cetaphil Daily Cleanser. The texture is the same and has no fragrance as well. I’m not saying that it doesn’t clean well, it’s just I don’t get that clean feeling washing my face with it, just like what I experienced with Cetaphil. Yes, it did not make my skin dry but I just don’t feel clean, if you know what I mean. So, I decided it will be best to use it in the morning for the non makeup face.

As you can see in the picture, my skincare line consists of many SK II products. I have been using them for around 4 years and find it a trustworthy product, that’s why it’s hard for me to experiment with other skincare brands. 

I think I don’t need to explain a lot about these 2 products especially because many of you would know how it works. After cleansing my face, I would tone it with the clear lotion and continue with the Facial Treatment Essence aka The Miracle Water. I used to spritz it using an atomizer but then decided to just pour it on my palms and then pat it to my face and neck. It’s a bit plentiful but my skin feel so hydrated after I do it hence the result is better on me. Some people say that you can use it as a face mask or to compress your acne to clam it down, but I never tried those, so I cannot comment on that.

A line up of SK II products waiting after the skin is prepped. The Cellumination Essence EX goes first. This serum has been my HG for achieving that glowy smooth skin texture. No more dull face whne you’re friends with this serum. It brightens and evens out your skintone, giving a supple glowing from within skin. This is the previous version before they launched the Cellumination Aura Essence just a while ago. 

As for moisturizer, I use two different kind for day and night. I am very happy that SK II launched Cellumination Day Surge UV SPF 30+++ to complete its Cellumination range, so without hesitating, I changed my Cellumination Deep Surge EX moisturizer with this one. In my opinion, it is the perfect day moisturizer for it contains broad sun protection spectrum compare to the Deep Surge (it has no sun protection) yet it doesn’t feel too heavy on your skin for daytime use. The texture is just a bit stickier than the first, but its fine by me. 

Anti aging product is essential to use as soon as you feel, well.. aging. I think the ideal time to start investing on your anti aging skin care is when you’re 25. Usually you’re also in the age where budget is not so tight anymore so you definitely can afford the “advance” skin care line. If you’re now more than 25 years old, fear not, but you better start browse and googling which anti aging products that can accommodate your skin issues. Better late than never, yes? The phrase aging gracefully is not without a work you know ;)

2 years ago I discovered SK II Stempower moisturizer. Attracted to its promise that it will enhance the ability to renew itself and makes the skin look firmer, I purchased it. It also mentioned that it will tighten the pores too. I love this red jar a lot and the texture is actually pretty light so you can use it for day time moisturizer. But I use it as my night time moisturizer because it doesn’t contain any SPF and I believe that an anti aging product works better at night when we are sleeping. After application you will feel your skin smoother and it is firmer in the morning after. SK II also has the Stempower Essence, an anti aging serum to be applied before the moisturizer. Experiencing satisfaction with the moisturizer, automatically when it launched, I want to complete my anti aging line with the serum, but unfortunately the ingredients in the Stempower Essence is a bit rich for me. My usually free of zits face got visitors. Even though that the zit came one after the other one’s gone, still I felt that something was not right, so I stopped the serum application and my skin went back to normal. Considering that the serum is too rich for my skin, I gave it to my mom who is in her 50s. As it turned out, my mom loves it to bits because she found it helps with her aging skin. So you might want to try it first for at least a week to see if the serum works well for you. 

Sun Protection

Ettusais UV Block Base SPF50+ PA++++

When I am out and about, I would add more sun protection to protect my skin better. Currently, I am using Ettusais UV Block Base SPF50+ PA++++. The texture is a bit thick but it is still easy to spread on your skin and my skin absorbed it pretty well too. I love the scent of it which I would say a bit herbal-ish similar to tea tree scent even though it said that its fragrances free. I also have other sunscreen sample from Lancome and Shu Uemura, but let’s talk about it more on a different post.

Exfoliation

Paula’s Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant (Salicylic Acid)

This is my HG liquid exfoliant! Found out about it recently and I would say it’s a must have product in your skincare arsenal. This exfoliant claims to shrink enlarged pores due to its ability to exfoliate skin’s surface and the inside the pore, leaving the skin surface smooth, unclogged pores, and improving skin’s turnover rate. I love what it did to my skin, it really shrinks my pores because it cleans my pores well and my skin texture also feel smoother. The direction is to use it daily but I only use it 2 times a week. At first you may use it 3 times a week, but after you see that your skin condition improving, you might want to reduce the frequency because too much exfoliation will not give you better result. Don’t forget to use sunscreen every time you go out of the house because BHA usage leads to more sensitive skin towards the sun exposure. You only need a small amount of it so this is a good investment because one bottle will last you for quite a while.

SK II Whitening Spots Specialist

Sometimes, our skin needs more that the usual regime. I call it skin booster. My go to skin booster are SK II Facial Treatment Repair C and SK II Whitening Spot Specialist. I usually put on the Repair C 2 times a week to increase my skin’s moisture level and to improve the texture. I use it before the moisturizer at night and the next morning my skin felt so supple and smooth, plumped but not puffy, ready for the day. It also claims to reduce the appearance of fine lines but that is something that I haven’t really noticed.

SK II Whitening Spots Specialist comes to the rescue when I feel my skin tone is dull. It will give me brighter complexion within a week or two. Brightening or whitening products can dry up your skin, so I usually use it before my moisturizer at night so I can slap on extra moisturizer to keep my skin hydrated, something I cannot do on daytime. Hopefully this product can also help me in reducing the appearance of skin pigmentation or spots.
